Privacy and personal data
We the Church of England, Safeguarding Moodle training site take your privacy very seriously. In order to provide access to the service, we must collect and store some personal information about you.
What is collected?
Basic profile information is collected from you in order to create your account including your full name and email address. You also have the option of stating your, Church and the role you have in that church. You also are asked to enter information about your Diocese and/or Training Institution.
As you use the site, information about the users, courses, activities and resources you interact with will also be stored and linked to your profile information.
How is this information used?
This information is used to provide you with access to the online courses at safeguardingtraining.cofeportal.org.
Statistical information about usage of the site is also used to improve the site and services provided.

Who is my data shared with?
If you indicate that you belong to a diocese and/or a theological training institution then the authorised safeguarding officers from that diocese/training institution will be able to see your personal details and the record of your training on this site.
How long is my data stored?
As part of the Church of England safeguarding strategy it is important to keep a permanent record of safeguarding training undertaken by people with any role in the Church for which safeguarding training is appropriate.
How do I withdraw my consent for Church of England, Safeguarding Moodle training site to store and process my personal data?
If you have never held a role in any Church of England parish that requires safeguarding training, nor been part of one of the Theological Training Institutions then you may request that your data is deleted. Please send an email to our data protection contact Andrea Watkins who can be contacted at SafeguardingEO@churchofengland.org. We will need to contact the Diocese and/or Training Institution if any that you indicated at registration to confirm that this is the case. You will no longer be able to access the services provided by Moodle Training site if your consent is withdrawn.
How do I request that my personal data is corrected?
You may make corrections to your basic profile information by logging into the training.commonawards.org and editing your own profile. If you have questions, or would like any other data to be corrected, please send an email to our data protection contact Andrea Watkins who can be contacted at SafeguardingEO@churchofengland.org
